Privacy notice
Last updated: 12 August 2026. This notice explains how personal information is handled, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who is responsible
The responsible party is Comfycurve (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in the Republic of South Africa under registration number 2026/115500/07, trading as MyGolfTourApp.
Information Officer: Rynhard van Maarleveld, director.
How to reach us about anything in this notice: mygolftourappsa@gmail.com. You can also use the enquiry form on this site and pick "A question about something else" as the subject.
2. What is collected, and why
When you enquire through this site
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name | To reply to you properly. |
| Your email address | To reply to you, and to send the setup sheet and an invoice if you go ahead. |
| Which option you are after | To quote you correctly. |
| Your tour date, or that you have not set one | To tell you whether we can build it in time. |
| Anything you type in the message box | To answer the question you asked. |
The legal basis is that this information is needed to respond to your own request and, if you go ahead, to perform our agreement with you. We do not use enquiry details for marketing, and we do not sell them to anyone.
Inside a tour app we have built for your group
Your group loads its own information. Depending on what your captains choose to enter, that can include player names, handicaps, scores, match results, prize and money records, photographs, profile text, and a contact detail such as an email address or mobile number used to issue a private sign-in link.
Your group decides what goes in. In POPIA terms, the group buying the app is the party determining what is collected, and we act as an operator processing it on your behalf and on your instructions. If you are a player rather than the organiser, and you want your details changed or removed, speak to your captains first, or contact us and we will pass it on.
3. Who else sees it, and where it goes
We do not sell personal information. It is shared only with the service providers needed to run the site and your app:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosting this site and your app, and receiving enquiry form submissions | United States and its global network |
| Supabase | The database and file storage behind your app, including photographs | Outside South Africa. We will confirm the region your database sits in on request |
| Google Fonts | Serving the two typefaces this site uses. Loading a page requests them, which reveals your IP address to Google | United States and its global network |
| Google (Gmail) | Receiving the enquiry notification and replying to you | United States and its global network |
| Google (Google Ads) | Advertising. This site carries the Google Ads tag, which sets cookies and identifiers in your browser and tells Google that a device visited this site, which pages, and whether you sent us an enquiry. We use it to see which adverts bring people here. It does not receive the name, email address or message you type into the form | United States and its global network |
| Splitwise | Only if you ask us to. On request we set up a shared expense group for your tour and link it from your app, so your group can track fines and side bets. Doing that means the names, and where you supply them the email addresses, of the players you want in that group are given to Splitwise. We do not put anyone in a group without being asked to, and your captains can remove or delete the group themselves | United States and its global network |
Sending information outside South Africa
Because those providers operate outside South Africa, personal information is transferred across the border. POPIA permits this where the receiving party is subject to comparable protections or is bound by contract to them. Our providers publish their own data protection terms and we rely on those. If you would rather your information were not processed outside South Africa, tell us before you order, because we cannot run the service without them.
4. Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no advertising, and has no analytics or tracking scripts on it. The only third party request a visit makes is to Google Fonts, as noted above.
Your tour app does store a small amount of information in your browser so that you stay signed in between visits. That is needed for it to work, and it is not used for tracking.
5. How long it is kept
- Enquiries that do not become customers: kept for up to 12 months in case you come back, then deleted.
- Customer records: invoices and the details needed for tax and accounting are kept for 5 years, because South African tax law requires it.
- Your tour app and its contents: kept while your app is live. If you are not on "Keep it live", the app and its database are removed after the period described in the terms. If you are, they are kept while you keep renewing.
- If we discontinue the service: you get notice and an export of your data before anything is deleted. See clause 6 of the terms.
6. Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and be given a copy.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
- Object to how we are using it.
- Complain to the Information Regulator if you think we have handled it badly.
Email the request to mygolftourappsa@gmail.com, or send it through the enquiry form choosing "A question about something else". We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first, so that we do not hand someone's details to the wrong person.
The Information Regulator (South Africa)
Website: inforegulator.org.za
General enquiries: enquiries@inforegulator.org.za, 010 023 5200, or toll free 0800 017 160
Address: Woodmead North Office Park, 54 Maxwell Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg, 2191
POPIA complaints are lodged through the Regulator's eServices Portal rather than by
email. Details are on their website.
7. Keeping it safe
Every group gets its own separate database, so one group's scores and photos are not stored alongside another's. Access to an app is by a private sign-in link issued per player, and site traffic is encrypted in transit.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise it is. If a breach happens that creates a real risk to anyone, we will notify the affected people and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
8. Children
This service is sold to adults organising golf tours. If a group loads a player under 18, the group is responsible for having the consent of that player's parent or guardian before entering their details or photograph.
9. Changes to this notice
If this notice changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects customers with a live app, we will tell them.
